The Chicago Flute Club is excited to offer a new event for flute students in our community. The Flute-a-thon is a unique opportunity for students to perform, receive feedback, and participate in classes on warm-ups and technique.
Performers must, at the time of registration, submit the titles of music to be performed. The maximum performance time is six minutes. Students may present a program of their choice, including solo works, etudes or excerpts. Most students will perform one piece, but in the case of shorter repertoire, a student may choose a few selections. Pianos will not be available; all performances will be performed unaccompanied. Following each performance, the Guest Clinician will provide verbal feedback to each student. Note that shorter performances will allow for more interaction with the clinician.
Performers should bring a copy of their music for the clinician.
Performers are encouraged to attend Warm-Up and Technique classes that will run throughout the day.
This event is free to current Chicago Flute Club members, and $20 for non-members. If you wish to join the CFC as a Student Member in order to have access to our entire year of offerings and to be able to register for free for the Flute-a-thon, you should first become a member through our website, http://www.chicagofluteclub.org, and then register for the event. Student Membership is $30.
The registration deadline is March 1, 2023. Late registrations will be allowed, space permitting, for a $5 late fee for both members and non-members.
Performers will receive a Star Performer Award to recognize their participation in the Flute-a-thon.
