During the "World of Flutes" Festival, we will have not one, not two, but THREE masterclasses! We will have classes with guest artist Demarre McGill and Lifetime Achievement Recipients Katherine Borst Jones and Ervin Monroe. Demarre McGill and Katherine Borst Jones will both offer masterclasses on standard flute repertoire, and Ervin Monroe will offer a masterclass on orchestral excerpts. To read more about our esteemed teachers, click here. See below for information to apply.

1. Recording Guidelines:

a. Please submit a recording of no more than 8 minutes of music. This can consist of standard flute repertoire and/or orchestral excerpts of your choice. You may record by your most convenient device. No professional recording equipment is necessary. Please list the repertoire performed.

b. Submit your recordings to our Masterclass Chair, Hideko Amano, at masterclass@chicagofluteclub.org.

c. The decision of the judges is final. Recordings become the property of the Chicago Flute Club.

2. Fees and Membership:

a. Masterclass participation is open to any CFC member who has not performed in a CFC masterclass in the previous membership year (September 2018 through August 2019).

b. To participate in the masterclasses, you must be a current member of the CFC and register of the CFC "World of Flutes" Festival.

c. While there is no initial application fee, chosen performers will be required to pay a fee of $35 to participate. Our treasurer will send an invoice for the participation fee to be paid on our website.

3. Biographical information:

Please include a resume listing your musical experience, teachers, and years studying privately. Please also submit a bio of no more than 400 characters to be used in the program if selected.

Please note: NOT 400 words, but 400 letters and punctuation marks.

4. Repertoire:

In addition to the pieces submitted on your recording, please list two other works which you could perform for the masterclass. Please note that you may be asked to perform repertoire from either your recording or repertoire list. The decision of the judges is final.

5. Application Deadline: Late and/or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Applications must be submitted by October 15, 2019.
