The Chicago Flute Club invites you to submit proposals to perform and/or present at our 2023 Flute Festival: Together Again! The CFC is one of the most active regional flute clubs in the nation, attracting flutists from all over the world.
Mark your calendars and come join us in Chicago for what is certain to be an inspiring festival!
Proposals will be accepted between March 10, 2023 and May 10, 2023. Notifications of acceptance will be sent by mid-June 2023.
There is no fee to submit a proposal. However, if your proposal is accepted, you are required to become a CFC member and register for the festival at your own expense. By submitting a proposal, you agree to appear at the Chicago Flute Club 2023 Flute Festival to be held on Sunday, October 1, 2023 at the Epiphany Center for the Arts in Chicago.

SOLO PERFORMANCE
We welcome proposals that feature works for solo flute and flute and piano. This category is open to all flutes and genres.
You may submit a total of 3 works in this category.
Provide a 2-3 sentence description of your performance. Performance time will be limited to 10-12 minutes. Please note computers, projectors, mics., and other technical equipment will not be available.
A piano will be available. You must make arrangements for your own accompanist.
Provide the title, instrumentation, composition date, composer's name/dates, and publisher for this work.
Provide a 75-word bio. If you are performing with piano, please list your accompanist's name along with 75-word bio.
You can upload a file with supporting materials including a long description of your event, links to recordings of the works you are proposing, program notes, and any other relevant information for your performance proposal.
CHAMBER MUSIC PERFORMANCE
We welcome proposals that feature chamber music works for flute and any other instruments. A piano will be available in the hall. This category is open to all flutes and genres.
You may submit a total of 3 works in this category.
Provide a 2-3 sentence description of your performance. Performance time will be limited to 10-12 minutes. Please note computers, projectors, mics., and other technical equipment will not be available.
A piano will be available. You must make arrangements for your own accompanist and other instrumentalists.
Provide a 75-word bio for each member of your chamber group.
Provide the title, instrumentation, composition date, composer's name/dates, and publisher for this work.
You can upload a file with supporting materials including a long description of your event, links to recordings of the works you are proposing, program notes, and any other relevant information for your performance proposal.
FLUTE CHOIR PERFORMANCE
We welcome proposals from flute choirs that would like to perform 15-minute programs. All members of a flute choir must be CFC members and registered for the festival. For student flute choirs, a group rate (for 5 or more members) is available.
Provide a 2-3 sentence description of your flute choir performance. Performance time will be limited to 15 minutes. Flute choirs will need to bring their own music stands.
Please attach a file listing a 75-word bio for your flute choir.
Upload a file listing your proposed program. List name of flute choir, Director's name, composition titles, instrumentation, composer's name/dates, and publisher.
You may upload a file with links to recordings of your flute choir, program notes, and any other relevant information for your performance proposal. The video does not have to be of the proposed program.
LECTURE OR WORKSHOP
We welcome proposals that support the theme of the festival: Together Again and include participatory workshops or lectures exploring any of these topics: tone development, vibrato, a survey of available repertoire, jazz improvisation, extended techniques, articulation, improving finger technique, flute families, improving breath control, a survey of music by one composer, entrepreneurship, career path, diversity and inclusion, wellness, and much more. Come up with your own topics and surprise us!
Provide a 2-3 sentence description of your lecture/workshop for the program book. Length of event will be a total of 45 minutes. Please note computer, projector, mics., and other technical equipment will not be available at this venue.

MASTERCLASS PERFORMANCE
Students of all levels are encouraged to submit one work to be performed in a masterclass taught by Denis Bouriakov during the CFC 2023 Festival.
Please submit only one work for consideration. Your entire video performance must not exceed 15 minutes of music. Submissions must include a single YouTube link with the entire performance of your work.
Your submission will be reviewed by a panel of experts and recommended for live masterclass performance at the CFC 2023 Flute Festival on October 1st, 2023. If selected, you will need to confirm your ability to perform in person at the festival site by July 1st, 2023.
