Dear Flutists,
I am pleased – and relieved – to report that after two years of preparation, we had a most successful Flute Festival. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves as they visited the 48 exhibitor tables, attended a number of the 20 seminars, listened to some of the 15 recitals, participated with any of the 5 visiting flute choirs or observed the 2 competitions. Every Board member and many volunteers worked tirelessly to make the weekend a success, but they will have very little time off to relax or bask in the memories. Our next 2011 Festival will take place on the weekend of 11-11-11. Put it in your datebooks now and think of ways to participate.
The CFC has three Teachers' Workshop programs and three concerts scheduled for the balance of this season. Your task is to attend these events and inspire your students to attend as well. Each experience will implant a marker in your memory for what you heard, what you learned, and what you can use to inspire your students and soon-to-be flute teachers to what is good, what is useful, and what is important to pass on to the next flute player.
Remember our goal: come with questions; leave with inspiration.
Sincerely,
Florence Nelson, President |
